Celaya

Celaya is a historic city in the state of Guanajuato and the main urban center of the so-called Laja-Bajío Metropolitan Area. It is known as the Golden Gate of Bajío. Not surprisingly, its human development index is one of the highest in the country. Due to its geographical location, it is well connected with Guadalajara and Mexico City, and with the cities that make up the industrial corridor of the state of Guanajuato. It is the birthplace of one of the most important artists of neoclassical architecture in Mexico: Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, author of the Temple of Carmel, one of the most representative points of the city, together with the Municipal Palace, the Morelos Market, the Bridge of the Monas, the Temple of Zapote, the Sanctuary of Guadalupe and the Mummies Museum. Celaya is a national pioneer in the cinematographic field and in the artisanal production of different types of sweets, famous throughout the country.
