The Jury’s decision
Mexico City, Odivelas and Santo André, winners of the Educating Cities Award for Best Practices in Values-Based Education!
The Educating Cities Award aims to recognise and give international visibility to the work that Educating Cities carry out, as well as to highlight best practices that can inspire other cities.
The Award will be granted to three experiences that foster education in civic and democratic values, promote better living together and respect for the planet; as well as initiatives that foster solidarity, a culture of peace, social justice, participation, environmental awareness, and commitment to the common good.
An international jury, composed of experts in the field and representatives from the IAEC Executive Committee, analysed the 66 candidatures from 55 cities and 11 countries that took part in the award. Given the significance, richness, and diversity of the experiences examined, the selection process has not been an easy task.
Due to its impact, transversality, and its illustration of the breadth of the Prize’s theme, as well as the work carried out with various groups, the Jury selected as winners of this fifth edition the following projects;
- Community Education Subsystem PILARES, México City (México)
- Interreligious Dialogue, Odivelas (Portugal)
- Water, Camera and Action – socio-environmental educommunication, Santo André (Brazil)
