Since the 1990s, Curitiba has been home to the Beacons of Knowledge. These spaces were created with the goal of broadening the democratisation of information and access to culture for the local population. In addition to offering traditional library services, these Beacons feature maker spaces managed by the schools’ pedagogical and administrative teams.

These are informal learning spaces that promote flexible education tailored to the participants’ needs and interests.
