Caguas (Puerto Rico) holds several IAEC activities
The city of Caguas receives the training course "Governance in Educating Cities of Latin America" on 22 and 23 October 2018.
The programme starts with a visit to the Offices of the Mayor, followed by a number of study visits to several selected schools and museums (such as Our School – School of Alternative Education or the Museum of Popular Arts, among others).
Afterwards municipal employees attend the Symposium “Democratic Governance in Educating Cities of Latin America”. The Mayor of Caguas, Mr. William Miranda Torres and the IAEC Director of the Delegation for Latin America, Ms. Laura Alfonso, welcome the participants, over 500. Next, Joan Manuel del Pozo, PhD (University of Girona) gives a lecture on “Educating City and Local Governance”
The day ends with a workshop led by Angélica Sátiro, PhD in Pedagogy and an activity aimed at integration which takes place in the city’s botanical garden.
On 23rd October, the Centro Criollo de Ciencias y Tecnología del Caribe (C3TEC) hosts the training designed for civil society, focused on encouraging reflection on the educating potential of the entities participating in the course, and the strategies that can be set in place to create synergies and improve governance. Last, attendants are given the opportunity to visit the (C3TEC) and to evaluate the training event.
