Its economic activity, mainly farming until mid-20th century, is actually associated to industry and the activities associated to the International Airport of Barcelona. El Prat is placed close to the Delta of the Llobregat River, a very important biodiversity zone and a key point on the Birds migration route of the Western Mediterranean zone.
