© Prefeitura Municipal de Nova Petrópolis / Mauro Stoffel Brazilian town of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, it is located 90 km away from Porto Alegre, the capital of the state. It belongs to the scenic route Rota Romântica and the Region of the Hydrangeas (Região das Hortênsias). It has preserved the architecture, language and traditions of the German who settled in the area in the 19^th century. It has around 19.000 inhabitants in an area of 291,079 km². Tourism and the manufacture of wool garments, among others, are the main economic activities of the town.
