© Mairie de Strasbourg Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region in France. It has a population of 272.222 inhabitants and a density of 3,478 inhab./km2 (2011 data). It has a surface of 78 km2. Situated on the border with Germany, this fact has contributed to become a bicultural city, besides of being home to major international institutions (European Parliament, Council of Europe, European Court of Human Rights, etc.).
