Granollers presents to the public the International Congress of Educating Cities, scheduled to take place in May 2026
The Scientific Committee will work to define the Congress program, and the public is invited to participate through three thematic commissions.
In May 2026, Granollers will host the 18th International Congress of Educating Cities, an international meeting focused on education and culture, strategies for building cities and communities, and fostering critical and creative citizenship.
On September 16, the Scientific Committee for the 2026 Congress convened and held a meeting aimed at the public to present the congress project and seek support.
During the congress presentation, this city and territory project was explained, which aims to define innovative strategies in the fields of education, culture, and community development. Participation spaces were also introduced, which will help shape this collective project through citizen commissions. Additionally, the 18th Congress will place special emphasis on the participation of young people, teenagers, and children through specific forums.
The Congress already has a Scientific Committee that will design the theoretical framework and content, select the experiences to be presented, help define the activities, and will also be responsible for the final declaration. The Committee is made up of experts and renowned individuals from various fields such as educational sciences, cultural management, anthropology, philosophy, and creativity. The members include Joan Manuel del Pozo, Joan Subirats, Eulàlia Bosch, Oriol Nel·lo, Angélica Sátiro, Yayo Herrero, Nicolás Barbieri, Gemma Carbó, Ester Bonal, Agnès Boixader, Josep Castillo, Teresa Sambola, Xavier Bonal, and Javier Martínez.
The first meeting of this Scientific Committee, aimed at starting to define the Congress program, took place just before the public presentation. Additionally, the creation of a Cultural Council is planned, which will be established soon and will contribute to the Scientific Committee. Institutions such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, CCCB, MNAC, Palau de la Música, the Carulla Foundation, the Museum of Art of Rio de Janeiro, Lugadero from Seville, and the writer and professor of Fine Arts María Acaso, among others, have already agreed to join.
