Almost thirty years after it was first published, the Charter of Educating Cities has culminated in procedures which at different paces and with different scopes have delivered outstanding results in each city. These experiences have clearly shown us that there is no single way to build an Educating City, but that there are certain dynamics which are key to achieving this goal.

The methodological guide provides certain guidance, with the goal of helping member cities to renew or reaffirm their commitment to the construction of an Educating City and to bolster the developments achieved in prioritising education within the municipal agenda. What’s more, this tool sets out to inspire new cities to launch their Educating City project, whether it is driven by political leaders or encouraged by the civil society.
