Conference: Playable City
On 1 June at 17h CET we celebrate the World Play Day with the workshop "Playable City"!
The IAEC, together with Barcelona City Council, the Institute for Children and Teenagers and Born Cultural Centre, organises a workshop to share ideas and experiences on how to transform our cities by dedicating public areas to play, reinforcing the use of school playgrounds as learning outdoor spaces and making public spaces in the city available for children.
The event includes an international session from 17 to 18:15h CET. Barcelona, Paris and São Paulo will present their experiences and the researcher Tim Gill will introduce the map of play-friendly cities:
- Janet Sanz, Deputy Mayor of the Area for Ecology, Urban Planning, Infrastructures and Mobility. The Plan for Play in Public Spaces and Barcelona’s strategies to move towards a play-friendly city.
- Patrick Bloche (TBC), Deputy Mayor of Paris City Council. The case of Paris.
- Fábio Rodrigo Brandão, «Ruas do Lazer» Project Coordinator. The case of São Paulo.
- Tim Gill, independent consultant on childhood and advocate for children’s play and mobility. The map of play-friendly cities: International context of the cities that are moving towards becoming more child-friendly.
Closing by Marina Canals, IAEC General Secretary.
