The event has over 220 registered participants from all regions over the world, including over 30 elected representatives. Mayor of Barcelona, Ms. Ada Colau, Mayor of Rosario, Ms. Mónica Fein and Mayor of Granollers, Mr. Josep Mayoral, members of the IAEC Executive Committee, also attend the event.

With eyes set on the forthcoming UCLG World Congress, which will take place in Durban on November, the Retreat will focus on the key issues to raise awareness on the role of cities in the achievement of the Agenda 2030 and its implementation at local level. Other topics that will be covered are: the strengthening of local democracies, sustainability, migration, local policies that take into account inclusion and the role of governance in the construction of resilient territories.

Participants will also work on a strategy to share the knowledge that cities generate when overcoming their main challenges.

Five intense days of debates, reflections and exchanges where the IAEC will participate to align efforts with the goal of making visible the contribution of Educating Cities to the global challenges faced by the urban world.
