The meeting was opened by the Major of the city, Ms. Mariví Monteserín, the City Councillor of Education of Lleida, Ms. Montserrat Parra, and the General Secretary of the IAEC, Ms. Marina Canals.

Following this, a dialogue amongst Mayors took place, in which they reflected on the advantages of belonging to the Network, the difficulties encountered, the changes in the city and the challenges ahead in setting up more educating cities. The Mayor of Avilés, the City Councillor of Education of Lleida, the Mayor of Rivas Vaciamadrid, Mr. Pedro del Cura Sánchez, and the City Councillor of Education, Childhood and Youth of Granollers, Mr. Francesc Arolas, participated in this dialogue.

After this session, Mr. Joan Manuel del Pozo, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Girona, gave a lecture on Innovation in Education from the local level. Subsequently, different cities shared good practices covering topics such as educative leisure time for young people, the role of childhood in the construction of the educating city, the citizen participation as an educating tool, the vocational training or the city’s heritage pedagogy.
