© jteijeirom (Flickr) City of the Central Portuguese region placed 150km from Lisbon and Porto. The city has huge surface of 625,7 km²  with urban centres at the coast and inland. The river Arunca crosses the city few kilometres before its confluence with the river Mondego. The economy of the city is quite diversified having trade, tourism and industrial activities. Meanwhile, at the rural zones, the rice culture is still very alive. Among its historic heritage, we must cite the Castle of Pombal, build by the Temple Order in the 12^th century.
