Inland city of the North Region of Portugal placed at the district of Braga. Póvoa de Lanhoso occupies a surface of 130 km
2 and is crossed by the rivers Ave and Cávado. The economy of the city is based on agriculture and industry, specifically on the textile sector. Póvoa de Lanhoso is also renowned by its filigree handicraft. Among its heritage it is worth mentioning the Castro (a pre Roman fortress) and the Castle of Lanhoso and the Romanesque Church of Fontacareda. Among its natural heritage it is worth citing the 500 year old oak of Calvos, one of the oldest in Europe. From Mount San Mamede, nice views of the region of Miño can be seen.
